The Sensei’s Vision
Our Chief Instructor, Mr. Chanh Chau-Tran (born in 1947), has been dedicated to the practice of Karate since 1968.In the 1960s, Karate was taught as a single, unified discipline. It was only when international governing bodies sought to include it in the Olympic Games that a distinction arose between Sport Karate and Traditional Karate. Having competed in both circuits for over 20 years, Mr. Chau-Tran concluded that Karate is, above all, a martial art and a method of self-defense—and only secondarily a sport. Even in competition, the sport must reflect dojo training. We teach karatekas to focus on the decisive blow (Ikken Hisatsu), emphasizing precision, timing, and absolute control over a continuous exchange of points-scoring strikes.
Mr. Chau-Tran encourages students to practice Karate for physical and mental health, self-defense, and the harmony of mind and body. Sparring and competitions are viewed as opportunities to excel under stress and as a means of character development.
In our school, there are no shortcuts or instant results. Our ranks are earned through hard work, discipline, rigor, and perseverance. Furthermore, our Dan diplomas are officially recognized by prestigious international federations, including the JKA, SKIF, and ITKF.
We welcome you to our club if you wish to find joy in learning and possess the dedication to pursue a lifelong journey in martial arts.
